If someone you know is looking to hire or be hired, please think of us.

We will take good care of anyone you refer. We can answer questions they have about the market or talk through ways to optimise their hiring process. We can even introduce them to other specialist recruiters if their skills are not in areas we know extremely well. So if you're unsure, refer them anyway.

Successful referrals are rewarded with your choice of a gift voucher, donation to charity or community event sponsorship to the value of $1,000. (Eligible three months after successful placement. Referral must be to a client or candidate we are not currently working with.)

Getting Started with VentureCapital.js

Topic

Sunrise Island is a conference hosted by Australia’s leading venture capital (VC) firm Blackbird. The one day conference is an opportunity to meet and learn from the very best people in the startup community and to support and grow the Australian startup community.

I already knew

The definition of “startup” - a newly established business.

I learned

Coming from a career in Higher Education which consists of grants, government funding, OpEx and CapEx; startup funding is a whole new world to me, I learned new words such as:

  • Venture capitalist: an investor who either provides capital to startup ventures or supports small companies that wish to expand.
  • Equity: money raised from selling shares in a company.
  • Runway: the amount of time until your startup goes out of business, assuming your current income and expenses stay constant. Typically calculated by dividing the current cash position by the current monthly burn rate.
  • Burn rate: your business’s cash-flow cycle.

I still want to know

  • How private equity, hedge funds and banks work…in general.
  • How long it will take me to read all the content on ASIC’s Moneysmart site which can answer all my question above.
  • Who has a garden/rooftop can keep the FlowHive I want to immediately buy?
  • How we can make Sam Sicilia’s recommendation a reality
