Staff AI Deployment Engineer, Australia

Australia (Canberra hub, travel required) Permanent

Build and deploy agentic AI into live customers, at the front edge of a rare and growing field.

  • Personally build and deploy agentic AI systems that go live inside major logistics customers
  • Fully remote across Australia, with the autonomy to own a brand new vertical end to end
  • Get in early on a forward-deployed career track that barely exists in the local market yet

The role

This is a rare one. You’ll personally design, build and deploy agentic AI inside some of the world’s largest logistics customers, owning each implementation end to end, from scoping and integration through to go-live and real adoption. This is forward-deployed engineering, the shape of role that’s still new in Australia and about to be in serious demand. Getting in now means building deep, hard-to-replicate expertise while the field is still forming.

The company is building the connective tissue for global trade, giving governments and large enterprises real visibility into their supply chains to manage risks like forced labour, sanctions and security threats. It’s now expanding into logistics, and this role sits right at the front of that push. You’ll be the first delivery hire for this vertical, so you’re not slotting into a machine, you’re shaping how it works.

About you

  • Personally designed, built and deployed agentic AI (LLM agents, tool calling, RAG or multi-agent orchestration) into a live customer environment
  • 8+ years in customer-facing technical delivery: implementation, forward-deployed engineering, professional services or hands-on technical program management
  • Strong Python and SQL, comfortable with APIs, git and cloud, and using AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot daily
  • Able to define your own roadmap: writing specs and measurable success criteria, sequencing work by value and risk
  • Equally at home running a technical working session and an executive conversation
  • Energised by ambiguity, ownership and genuinely hard problems

Why you’ll want this

  • Build real agentic AI into production for major customers, not demos or decks
  • Work on a genuinely hard technical problem, a knowledge graph mapping the global supply chain, not a thin wrapper over someone else’s model
  • Full ownership of a brand new vertical, with the autonomy to shape it as it grows
  • A warm, high-trust, fast-moving team that trusts you to run your own work
  • A well-backed company with real momentum, expanding across the region
  • Fully remote, anywhere in Australia, with flexible hours built around how the work actually gets done

This is forward-deployed work with a global team, so expect some follow-the-sun collaboration with colleagues in the UK and US, and meaningful travel to customer sites around the region (up to around half your time in the first six months while you stand up new customers, easing off after that). If that rhythm sounds like your kind of role, you’ll thrive here.
