Lead Cyber Analyst - Federal Government - NV1 - 12mth contract

Canberra, ACT (hybrid Contract

Lead Cyber Analyst x2, federal government agency, 12mth+2x12mth ext, hybrid ACT preferred, NV1. Azure/PSPF/ISM/E8 risk assessments.

  • 12 month initial contract + 2 x 12 month extension options
  • Hybrid working - ACT preferred, other states considered with Canberra/regional attendance
  • Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
  • Lead / EL1 equivalent seniority, up to 40 hours per week
  • Work on security risk assessments across Azure Cloud, legacy ICT and complex systems
  • Contribute to SSPs, SSP-As and PSPF/ISM/Essential Eight compliance documentation
  • One page pitch required addressing all essential criteria

A federal government agency is seeking multiple highly skilled technical resources to join their high-performing and fast paced ICT cyber security team. You’ll be proficient in conducting security risk assessments of ICT systems and applications in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Information Security Manual (ISM), with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. You’ll review and contribute to the development of the full suite of security documentation, including System Security Plan Annexes (SSP-As) and System Security Plans (SSPs).

Essential criteria:

  1. 3-5 years’ experience working within Government conducting security risk assessments in a cyber team.
  2. Demonstrated experience conducting security risk assessments with Azure Cloud, Legacy ICT systems, AI Technology and complex systems.
  3. Current knowledge and experience providing guidance on application and system designs relating to PSPF, ISM and Essential Eight.
  4. Experience liaising with non-technical and technical stakeholders in relation to cyber security issues, system risks and recommendations.
  5. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering executive-level briefings.
  6. Strong understanding of networking infrastructure.

Desirable: Understanding of Operational Technologies will be an advantage.

Contract details:

  • Estimated start: Monday 2 November 2026
  • Initial contract: 12 months, with 2 x 12 month extension options
  • Location: ACT preferred; other states considered with ability to attend Canberra or nearest regional office when required
  • Working arrangement: Hybrid
  • Security clearance: Must be able to obtain NV1
  • Experience level: Lead - EL1 equivalent
  • Maximum hours: 40 hours per week
