Technology Architect (contract)

The role
A federal agency is looking for a Technology Architect to provide senior technical leadership and delivery coordination for a national network infrastructure transformation program. The focus is the Network Edge Stream, covering wired and wireless infrastructure across airports, ports, and regional biosecurity facilities.
You will lead planning workshops, oversee end-to-end network refresh activities, provide design assurance over vendor proposals, and support PGPA-aligned procurement processes. The role sits at the intersection of technical coordination and governance, working closely with service partners, specialist vendors, and internal stakeholders across a complex multi-agency environment.

About you

• Proven experience leading complex network infrastructure programs in secure or mission-critical environments
• Strong capability in network design assurance, deployment sequencing, and multi-site delivery
• Ability to develop technical procurement documentation and support government approval processes
• Deep understanding of enterprise wired and wireless technologies, switching standards, and physical infrastructure
• Experience coordinating service partners, cabling vendors, and specialist contractors
• Demonstrated ability to manage risks, resolve technical issues, and maintain delivery momentum under pressure

Experience with Aruba, Cisco, or equivalent enterprise platforms and familiarity with Commonwealth governance frameworks are desirable. You must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.

The offer

• Start date: 1 August 2026
• Initial contract: 12 months, with 2 x 12-month extensions possible
• Location: Canberra, ACT hybrid working, with preference for up to 3 days/week onsite
• Up to 40 hours per week
• Security clearance: must be able to obtain NV1
