Lead QA Engineer

A well-established Australian digital marketplace is rebuilding and modernising its core platform after a major business transformation. This is a high-ownership QA lead role where you will shift a manual-heavy testing function to majority automated, improve release confidence, and embed quality practices into everyday delivery for products used by a large national audience.

The role

• Take a QA function from manual-heavy regression to majority automated.
• Select pragmatic tools and frameworks, build the automation approach, and make it stick.
• Improve quality signals across the SDLC, not just at the end of the release cycle.
• Partner closely with engineers and product stakeholders to lift release confidence while delivery pressure is high.
• Coach others and raise standards through practical leadership and hands-on execution.

About you

• You have played a key role in test automation uplift, including framework and tooling selection.
• You have hands-on experience using AI tools to uplift QA practices - from test generation to failure analysis - and can demonstrate the tangible impact this has had on your team’s quality and efficiency.
• You can balance pragmatism with quality: you know what to automate first, and how to iterate without slowing delivery.
• You work well with software engineers and can influence quality practices across a team.
• You are comfortable in a changing environment with a lot of autonomy and ambiguity.
