Super proud to announce that JP is now a partner at Lookahead Search.

Over the years he has seen us grow and helped us grow up. He’s a steady hand that’s calm under pressure and is always good for advice. JP ruthlessly determines what’s essential and doesn’t fuss over things that don’t matter. He juggles work + being a family man with two young sons like a boss.

JP and I go back a while. We met in 2011 when he moved to Sydney with his fiancé Shannon. I was interviewing him for a scrum master role and still remember that ’hell yeah’ feeling after our first meeting. His smarts, empathy and personality shone right through. I was so happy for my client - they were lucky to have someone of that calibre on the team.

6 months later his team moved to Melbourne, so I got to place him all over again. Around that time he and Shannon married in Palm Beach. I still remember talking about his wedding plans every time I dropped by to see how his new job was going.

This was all before Lookahead Search was a thing.

Fast forward to 2013 - over a beer I casually mention he’d be great at recruiting. It’s obvious: he knows technology, thrives in a people focused role, and he’s great to have around. Back then though, going from tech-to-recruiting was not really the done thing. We laugh it off - yeah nah, mate.

A year later JP asks about that comment. He remembers! He’s thinking about it! After meeting the rest of the team (a whopping 3 people), we offered him a role. It could’ve gone either way but he accepted and I still remember the feeling. We get to work with JP every day now!

4.5 years ago Lookahead was young. He is our early proof that technologists who enjoy people focused roles make outstanding recruiters. I’ve loved watching him learn recruiting, become one of the greats and pass on his knowledge to our team.
