Drop us a note and we’ll get back to you soon.
One of our friendly team members (like Maureen) will be happy to answer any questions you have.
Good people know good people. Connect us and earn a reward.
If someone you know is looking to hire or be hired, please think of us.
We will take good care of anyone you refer. We can answer questions they have about the market or talk through ways to optimise their hiring process. We can even introduce them to other specialist recruiters if their skills are not in areas we know extremely well. So if you're unsure, refer them anyway.
Successful referrals are rewarded with your choice of a gift voucher, donation to charity or community event sponsorship to the value of $1,000. (Eligible three months after successful placement. Referral must be to a client or candidate we are not currently working with.)
We hire people who care about technology and train them to become great technical recruiters.
The glue that binds us at Lookahead is that we care about technology and bringing people together. Each of us has experience in a software team, and it’s that empathy for how products are built that helps us match the right people to the right companies.
If you love technology and are curious about what a people focused role is like, apply now. If you have that technical grounding and have recruited before - we’d be especially keen to chat.
Fiona Chan
Technical Recruiter since 2015
“Although I’m not coding on a daily basis, I’ve really enjoyed meeting developers and chatting with them. Having that technical background definitely helps me in being able to understand what developers and companies are after. I’ve also spent a lot of time giving people general advice on job searching and resume writing. They really appreciate that.”
From day one you’ll have clients who need your help hiring software engineers. They’re companies who are making their own software products that care about building high performing teams. You’ll be paired up with another Lookahead recruiter who will help show you the ropes.
You’ll use the knowledge you gained working in software teams to spot talented developers. The obvious ones, and the not so obvious. You’ll visit potential new clients and figure out if they’re the sort of place developers would be able to do great work. You’ll get involved in technical communities and contribute in a meaningful way. That means going to plenty of meetups and conferences so you’re always able to stay up to date with technology. :)
You’ll join a supportive, diverse team who love to share their knowledge. We love getting to know each other over a lunch, impromptu gelato run, our quarterly get togethers and annual Team Hang.
A genuine interest in technology – it’s hard to fake caring. We’re all involved in the web development community and are passionate about giving back.
A long term focus – recruiting can be simple but it sure isn’t easy. Give us a year to show you the ropes. It’s up to us to keep it interesting every year after that. :)
Ability to write
good
well
– recruiters are professional communicators. We need
folks who are clear communicators in writing, in person and over
the phone.
A sense of humour – we take work seriously, but not ourselves.
Four day weeks. When Covid first hit, we stopped working Fridays. Now we have found we get just as much done working Monday to Thursday.
$80k to $100k + super for 4 days, depending on your experience. There’s a generous commission scheme and profit share to go on top of that.
Up to 5 weeks annual leave after your first year, then up to 6 weeks after your second year. We’re quite flexible on remote & in office time.
We’d consider part-time roles, job share arrangements and encourage return to work parents to apply.
You’ll be supplied with a high end computer, a tablet, and your mobile phone is covered. We never skimp on technology. We don’t skimp on training or conferences either. No one joins a company for their team building events but ours are pretty neat.
We’re proud to be a Pledge 1% member. We pledge 1% of our profits, time and product. There’s volunteer leave to spend on a cause of your choosng.
Technical recruiting is a wonderfully rewarding career for the right people. Reach out if you’re even just a tiny bit curious.
