Over the last 2 years, Android has been the fastest growing technology that we have hired for.

While the Apple development community in Australia has been getting together regularly since before iOS was released, Android developers have been mostly tasked with figuring things out for themselves.

About a year ago, we met with Android Australia to raise this issue and offer our help to host a monthly, Android-specific event. Since then, we’ve had 31 talks, visits from Google evangelists and giveaways such as BLE beacons, Google IO swag, educational books from O’Reilly and Github stickers. Our numbers have increased from a humble 16 at our first meetup to over 50 at October’s event.

Last week, I gave a lightning talk about what employers want. It was mostly some tips and recommendations to increase your chances of getting that job that you want to apply for or just making your online profile more attractive to prospective employers. Essentially, it came down to these two things:
