Details (ARCHIVED)ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client has a huge customer base, both local and international, in the events planning space and are currently about to embark on another big growth period. They have a constantly expanding team and currently are in need of an experienced developer to help guide them through the next phase.
They are an equal opportunity employer who puts tremendous value on diversity. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The platform was originally built by a consultancy, and it worked well for the last few years, the company is aware that some changes may be needed if the product is to scale properly, they may need to move to something new. Part of the responsibility of this role will be to evaluate the current stack and help the rest of the team shape the product roadmap and help make some important architectural decisions to ensure a stable and scalable solution. As the team then grows, you'll play a big part in ensuring that you've got the right people on board to help you complete these goals. Currently the team is most likely looking towards moving to a Ruby On Rails stack, so experience in a Rails environment is essential.
You've ideally been a developer at a Senior level for a number of years now and are looking for an opportunity that will allow you to take the next step to a Lead role (you may even have future aspirations to be a CTO). You have ideally had some history of helping drive the creation and evolution of multiple and diverse products, from ideation all the way through to deployment and ongoing performance monitoring. If you haven't lead a project before, you definitely feel like you're overdue for the chance to prove your worth. My client isn't looking for a particular language or framework - they'll actually be looking to you to make some of these decisions, even it's to transition to a totally different framework. Regardless of your language preference, you have all the important elements - excellent OO design skills, strong architectural pattern knowledge, a pragmatic approach to implementation and excellent communication skills, with a desire and passion to learn more.
- Competitive salary
- Convenient Melbourne inner-city location
- Working in a culture of experimentation, knowledge-sharing and continual improvement
- Being part of an incredibly passionate, supportive and respectful cross-functional team that values constant learning
- A culture of experimentation, open to trying new things
