Technical Lead | Melbourne

Details (ARCHIVED)

Our client has a huge customer base in the travel industry. They are a constantly expanding team and currently are in need of an experienced Technical Lead. Great care is taken in nurturing the design process. Engineers live close to the business problem, and play a large part in personally shaping the success of the product, working with both external customers as well as other internal teams within the business.

They are an equal opportunity employer who puts tremendous value on diversity. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

The platform is an event-driven, service-oriented architecture built primarily on Ruby On Rails with a React front-end, hosted on AWS. Success for this application over the medium term will be to assist modernising the technology stack whilst improving the user experience.

You've ideally been a developer at a Senior level for a number of years now and are looking for a team that will allow you to take the next step to a Lead role (you may even aspirations to be a Head Of Engineering in the future?). You have ideally had some history of helping drive the creation and evolution of multiple and diverse products, from ideation all the way through to deployment and ongoing performance monitoring. At the very least, if you haven't lead a project before, you feel you're overdue for the chance to prove your worth. The DevOps practices are kept as pure as possible, so you should also be comfortable running what you build. They aren't looking for a particular language speciality, so hopefully you're comfortable working with a number of languages - excellent OO design skills, strong architectural pattern knowledge, a pragmatic approach to implementation and excellent communication skills with a team that thrives on a high level of collaboration are preferred over a particular language. That said, Ruby and JavaScript is their bread and butter (with a quickly growing functional presence).

  • Highly competitive salary package
  • Convenient Melbourne inner-city location
  • Working in a culture of experimentation, knowledge-sharing and continual improvement
  • Being part of a passionate, supportive and respective cross-functional team that values constant learning
  • A culture of experimentation, open to trying new things
  • Structured career progression
  • Personal training budget
  • Regular hack days
  • Generous travel-related perks (airlines and hotels)
Send an email with your resume, website, Github account, links to apps or anything else you're proud of. At that point I'll tell you more about the role and we can decide if there's a fit. Even if this role isn't quite right for you but you are passionate about all things Javascript, I would still love to hear from you.
